History

Robert K. Reynolds, Jr. (Robby) president of Business Consulting Group, inc., began his successful career of providing quality, professional business consulting services to independently owned businesses in 1974 when he bought General Business Services (a franchise) in Raleigh, NC. In 1976 he moved the company to Charlotte and, in 1982, he settled in his hometown of Shelby. In 2002, the company became known as Business Consulting Group, Inc. and moved its office to the historical and beautifully renovated Shelby Supply Building on North Lafayette Street in uptown Shelby.

For more than 30 years, the business has worked to meet the needs of independently owned enterprises by offering individualized assistance. Whether you need help with tax preparation and accounting, preparing a business plan, starting your own business or you just need an experienced professional to help you identify and address problems within your company, Business Consulting Group offers the services you need. Their clients include service and whole-sale businesses, professionals, retailers, distributors and contractors.

“Our objective is to assist each business owner to achieve the goals that they have established for themselves and their business,” says Reynolds. “We offer a personalized, professional service with the goal of communicating in a way that our clients can understand. Experience:  As owner and operator of Business Consulting Group Robby has specialized in independently owned businesses since 1974. In October of 2004 his company was awarded Cleveland County Chamber of Commerce ''Small Business of the Month''. Robby currently serves on several local boards, Hospice and Palliative Care of Cleveland County, Dover YMCA and Cleveland County Business Development Center to name a few. He also serves as an Elder and on several committees at Shelby Presbyterian Church. Robby also served on the state board of National Association of Tax Professionals.


Name: Barbara Earl
Title: Client Accounting Service Manager
Years Working at BCGI: 20
Education: Graduate from Cleveland Community College with an Associate Degree - Accounting and Business Administration.

Experience: Barbara is trained in the general Accounting Manual Peach Tree and QuickBooks. She is currently responsible for Corporate and Personal Tax Returns, Financial Statements, Payroll and all related reports, Tax Correspondence, Trouble Shooting and Sales Tax.


Name: Brad Walker
Title: Consultant

Education: Brad is a 1995 graduate of Burns High School and 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelors of Science, in Accounting. While at UNCC Brad was awarded membership into the National Accounting Honor Society, Beta Alpha Psi.

Experience: Brad has a combined total of over 9 years experience in auditing, tax return preparation, and general accounting management.


 

Name: Eleanor Thomas
Title: Client Services Manager
Years Working at BCGI: 4
Education: Graduate of Kings Mountain High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte.

Experience: Eleanor has worked in many areas of the office including dispatch, safety and OSHA, special/hazardous waste, purchasing, statistics, accounts payable, payroll, personnel, benefits, accounts receivable, collections and cash flow. She has experience with fuel tax, sales tax and audits. Eleanor's also been involved with short time, layoffs and unemployment benefits. She maintained a less than 1% write off rate in accounts receivable while responsible for several thousand accounts, and played a major role in obtaining a zero point internal audit. Eleanor is trained in personal tax return preparation. She also has experience in policy and procedures and is working on a paperless office.


 

Name: Dwayne Parker

Title: Consultant/Business Coach

Year Working at BCGI: Began January, 2010

Education: Graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Management and Wake Forest University with a Masters of Business Administration with concentration in Finance and Operations.

  
Experience: Has over 20 years experience in management and consulting roles in the process improvement arena. He has worked with a variety of businesses improving processes in the areas of accounting, operations, job costing, sales and marketing. Most recently, he has spent the past six+ years working with small to medium-sized businesses helping business owners improve sales,cash flow, profits, and productivity.
